Nettlebed event 14 Feb
Summary
An 80m ARDF event will take place in the lovely Chiltern Hills by kind permission of TVOC. Pin punching will be used for the ARDF event (the Orienteering event is using electronic punching).
Location
Nettlebed is located midway between Henley on Thames and Wallingford.
Directions
Parking at the Sue Ryder Care Hospice, which is the main orienteering car park. See here for a map of the area. Access from the M40 J6, south on the B4009, B480 and B481. From Reading northwards on the B481.
There is a £1 parking charge.
Events
A single band 80m event comprising 11 TXs. There will be 5 main TXs and 6 Fox-Oring TXs. Subject to final planning this event will correspond to IARU rules as regard TX placing for the 5 main TXs.
Due to the nature of the area and the need to avoid the orienteering controls the full course is quite long at 8km. A medium course of 6km will be offered in addition. This comprises 4 main TXs and 5 FoxOring TXs.
Note that the orienteering event is using two starts. The ARDF will be using the North start.This is a change from the original instructions.
Time limit 150 mins.
Fees
£5.00 for the day.
Map
The map size is A3, scale 1:10000.
Facilities
Toilets. It is expected that traders and catering will be in attendance.
Punching
Manual punching will be used. The main Orienteering event is using electronic punching, so there should be no confusion.
Timings
Registration opens 1000. Starts from 10.30am. Courses close 1430.
Notes
The North orienteering start will not be manned by ARDF staff, so this will be self start. The orienteering finish will be used and the organiser will be there to check you all back in.
