Benyon's Inclosure Saturday 22 Aug

Summary
A 2m ARDF event at Benyon's Inclosure, SW of Reading on Saturday 22 August.

Location and Directions
Nearest Town: Mortimer 1 mile,
Junction 12 M4, then in the direction of Aldermaston.
Junction 11 M4, then in the direction of Mortimer.
Meeting point - off the road between Mortimer and Aldermarston GR SU630642. Nearest post code RG7 3UA.

Parking
Parking will be on the rides next to the woodyard.

Terrain
Commercially managed woodland. Lots of paths, mainly forested, lightly contoured. Significant lake and wetlands. Lots of bracken in August but very little bramble.

Courses
A significant 2m course. 7 Txs in a 5 minute cycle.
Swedish format callsigns for the two additional transmitters ie. sending MOe MOi MOs MOh MO5 MOn MOd. On-time 43secs
Secondary 80m activity: Two transmitters available for casual use.

Receivers
We will have a limited number of loan receivers - if you do not have a suitable 2m receiver - then let the organiser know you require one before the event.

A4 size, 1:10,000, 5m contours.

  • Dogs on lead.

Manual pin punching.

Timetable

  • Registration from 1000.
  • Competition start times will be 1030 - 1130
  • Courses close 1400

Safety
Competitors are responsible for their own safety and take part at their own risk. Whistles should be carried (the emergency signal is 6 blasts repeated at 1 minute intervals).

Basics
Be prepared for bad weather.
Wear stout shoes, the area has some muddy spots.
