Map
Map Scale 1:10,000 printed on A3 paper. Foldable to A4 size for the competition area.
For the 144 MHz competition fold vertically along the 5th magnetic north line from the left.
Then fold vertically along the 3rd magnetic north line from the right. The map will now fit in an A4 wallet (portrait)
General Points
1. SI electronic punching will be used. If you do not have your own dibber, one can be hired at Registration for £1.
2. Fee £10 for BOF members (we must have your BOF number) and £12 for non BOF members. We have to pay £9 and £11 respectively of these fees to BOK. Juniors are £3.
3. Note carefully the details of crossing the A4136 under 'Safety' below.
4. There are toilets in the assembly area.
5. There is NO clothing transfer from the Start to the Finish on day 2.
Safety
Competitors are responsible for their own safety and take part at their own risk. No smoking in the forest. Whistles MUST be carried (the emergency signal is 6 blasts repeated at 1 minute intervals). No whistle - no start!
The main A4136 road through the area has to be crossed during the 144 MHz competition<
There is a single (manned) crossing point of the A4136 marked on the map and you MUST use this crossing point every time you cross this busy main road.
South of the crossing point an orienteering control site is marked on your map. To prove that you have used the crossing point and to give the time at which you crossed, it is mandatory that you punch this control. This will allow the organisers to check that no one moves from the southern part of the area to the northern part at anywhere other than the manned crossing point.
This orienteering control can be at any distance from the nearest hidden transmitter.
